sorry, hathitrust does not open for me, due to copyright problems (probably because I'm not in the US).

Could you somehow download the pdf file and post it here please ? Then I can check.

Why didn't you want to use the link I found for the Lord John poem ? :hmm:

Hi Sonia,
Sorry for not using your variant, but it's not the one Romanians know from school and mass-media. I wanted to record the modern/final version of this poem. The two poems, "Lordul John" and "El Zorab", are on the same book with the fable, that you've been PL checking for Livia on this project. Her link is this one: "https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015070383685&view=1up&seq=419". If you were able to see her two fables, you should be fine in seeing mine. It could be just a glitch or maybe trying on a different browser.
I have uploaded the snapshots (word docs) of hathi's pages here, because is not allowing me to download a full pdf of the poems, unless I'm a member of an affiliated entity:
"Lordul John" - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vxrHwVOPSKIDE6EgRnMUoHN7z5EVtpUE/view?usp=sharing
"El Zorab" - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gjAejUAvmP_6ObkqUTtF6_5xJYX6Gvh7/view?usp=sharing
I hope this works now.
Please, let me know.
Thanks for your diligence and help. ;)

sorry, yes this link is opening for me and I remember the two fables. But I checked the index table and I don't see your two poems in there. Maybe I am blind. Could you give me the exact page number maybe ?

Todd: you are in the US, can you maybe access the hathi links that were provided for the three poems ? :?

yes but you know, LV is unfortunately not at liberty to record the "modern" version of anything, but the original, or at least the public domain version that was written by the author before 1923. I don't know this poem, maybe this "modern" version was amended by someone else after 1923, then we cannot use this version that you have. That's why we have to refer to the public domain texts. There is a reason for this, otherwise I wouldn't insist on it.

Oops! Sorry!
Actually, they are on a different book!
Same website though. Here is the book:
https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=nyp.33433074388160&view=1up&seq=9
You can try a search for it: "Balade si idile, de George Cosbuc"
I'm getting dizzy on this! I imagine how much you love it  , due to so many, simultaneous, other projects you're coordinating now.
The uploaded recordings are from this very book.
Thanks much :)

well mostly the projects are not so difficult because we have texts that are clearly in the public domain. Your sources seem to be especially difficult to track.

I need to check further before I can PL this...stay tuned. The best thing would be if you could somehow download the book from your source. Since you seem to be able to open it, it must somehow be feasible. I especially need to see the text that you were reading from, and the page where the publication date is clearly printed, so I can see it was before 1923.

well I'm not giving up that easily. And success, I think I finally found another book on archive.org. I don't know why I didn't find it yesterday, probably the author's name was wrongly in the database.

https://archive.org/details/baladeiidile00cogoog/page/n8

Here at least we have Lordul John and El-Zorab. Unfortunately not the other two poems. :( But I will proceed to check with this version now and if it's the same than yours, then we can take those.

Stay tuned.

So, Cornel, I have good news. The poems El-Zorab and Lordul John are conform with the text from 1897 which I found in this archive scan: https://archive.org/details/baladeiidile00cogoog/page/n8

That means both can be marked PL ok. I'm happy we finally found a valid source.

For the record, archive.org is really one of the best sources for texts, they have a big choice of texts and you can always see in the scan what publication year it is. So it's very reliable. For example, if you wish to do more poems by this author, you can use this link I gave you just now.

So did you find another source for your other two poems ? Maybe you could further check on archive.

Sonia, you need a Statue for being an Extraordinary Patient Professional!!
Before I'll step away and try to, never, interfere with other multilingual projects, due to my lack of attention to details and poor "public domain" sources, I really want to say Thank You Very Much for everything you have done for me on this matter and for publishing my recordings!
I'll go SOLO, from now on, in any of my future Romanian language readings for Librivox. It will be a better way to contribute and less headaches for the coordinators.
Happy Summer! :D

awww no, I didn't want to scare you off. :( The only advice is to maybe post your poem suggestion with source before you do the work, that way we can check immediately whether the source is ok, before you record.

Anyway, also with a solo the source needs to be PD and acceptable, so the problem would be the same. But it's your choice what suits you better.

Good luck in any case. You're very expressive in poetry, so you'll do great additions to the Romanian books on here. :)
