Bonjour, Sonia
me voici avec l'article:
https://fr.m.wikisource.org/wiki/Jackson,_portrait_et_notice_biographique
https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/msw021_jackson_biographie_revuedesdeuxmondes_chj_128kb.mp3

amicalement,
Christiane.

thank you, Pierre, and congrats to your first French section It's a very beautiful poem that you chose here. And you have narrated it very nicely, I was able to understand it all. Clear diction, well done.Iunta4Ios wrote: ↑November 28th, 2018, 11:12 am • URL for the mp3 file from the Uploader - https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/msw021_regret_debordes-valmore_pi_128kb.mp3

I have two small notes for the intro/outro though:
> at 0:07: after “read in French” you forgot to say “for Librivox.org” in the intro
> at 0:47: “this recording is in the public domain” – you say “record” instead of “recording”, it’s a slight difference in meaning
The poem itself was all fine.
Sonia
and thank you also, Livia, for another beautiful poem. I had a bit of a creepy feeling listening to it. What is it about ? Is someone running away from something all the time ? I didn't understand it all I'm afraid.livia wrote: ↑November 28th, 2018, 1:41 pmhttps://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/msw021_goana_negruzzi_lf_128kb.mp3

I uploaded the corrected version:
https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/msw021_regret_debordes-valmore_pi_128kb.mp3
(00:58 m now)
I was so concentrate in trying to read in an acceptable way the French poetry, that I made mistakes in the English introduction and closing!
I am very happy to have discovered this interesting Topic, that I did not know before!
Pier
well, maybe you find a nice poem in Latin to add to the collection Would be interesting to hear as well. I love listening to so many different languages.Iunta4Ios wrote: ↑November 29th, 2018, 5:00 am I uploaded the corrected version:

Here is a little description:
''Goana'' means running in a fast pace ( I do not know, maybe there is one word in English)
A young man has not seen his girlfriend for a long time.
At the command of the master( the young man), a horse runs at an amazing pace in the fields and through the woods to the house of his lover. But the young man's soul struggles with doubt. Is his girlfriend waiting for him or she forgot him?
Best regards!
Livia
ah ok, a beautifully sad topic. You conveyed the doubt quite well and "running in a fast pace" could probably be called "hurry" or "hasten" in English.livia wrote: ↑November 29th, 2018, 5:46 am ''Goana'' means running in a fast pace ( I do not know, maybe there is one word in English)

Sonia,
you provoked me with Latin!
I uploaded the first part of the first “Bucolica” by Virgilio
I read it following the rules of Latin metric and prosody (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosody_(Latin) )

thank you, Pier, and sorry, I didn't want to provoke you (only give you ideas )Iunta4Ios wrote: ↑November 29th, 2018, 10:47 am you provoked me with Latin!

Your Latin sounds really good. Did you learn it in school or is it a private interest ?
Just one note, usually we prefer not to do just excerpts, but a whole part, so is there a reason, why you only recorded the first two stanzas ? Did you first want to check whether it would be acceptable ? I know it's quite a long text, but maybe you could do the first Eclogue entirely ? (about 500 words more )
Also, your text source is not really valid for LV, since it's not clear this version is in the public domain. I found the text on Gutenberg, and I checked against that one, and the text is the same, so it's good here. But if you record the rest, could you read from this source please, just to be sure: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/229/229-h/229-h.htm#ecloga01
Also could you say "Ecloga 1" in the intro, as this text calls them Eclogae instead of Bucolicae ?
thanks
Sonia
