Our Lady of the Pillar by José Maria de Eça de Queirós (1845 - 1900). Translated by Edgar Prestage (1869 - 1951)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/our-lady-of-the-pillar-by-jose-maria-de-eca-de-queiros/
A ghost story and love story all at once, set in medieval portugal. Don Ruy is in love with Dona Leonor, but her husband has guessed his feelings and hatches a plan. Don Ruy rides right into a trap, but on the way, a dead man joins him and saves his life. (Summary by Carolin)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/56670
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Leni,

I can MC this for you.

The MW is set up.

You can remove the red warning at the top of the first post, if the DPL is not effected by the copyright restriction.

Section 1 is very PL OK

Nice reading Leni! ... I am very interested to see what transpires between Don Ruy and Donna Leonor!

Flawless reading of section 2! .... PL OK :9:

Just making a note for myself that section 3 picks up with: "So he reached the Calvary, where the road split into two roads,"

Yeah!!! .... I can stop holding my breath now! ...whew!

Section 4 is PL OK!

For section 3, I have one PL Note:

At 23:45, there is a slight stumble and a repeat of "and his feet stiffened".

If you could just edit that slightly and post again for a spot PL check, this cool story will be ready for the catalog!

Great job Leni, I very much enjoyed listening to this. You are a very engaging reader. :9:
