Multilingual Short Works Collection 016 - Poetry & Prose

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/multilingual-short-works-collection-016/

This collection is for short works, in any language except (modern) English. This can include poetry but also prose, fiction as well as non-fiction.
Feel free to choose any work which is in the public domain. If you're unsure what we mean by 'public domain', please read this explanation. Try to stick to works that run less than 60 minutes.
Please follow the instructions in this post carefully. :) There is no need to "sign-up" before recording; please remember that you should choose a work that is Public Domain in your country AND that was published before 1923; if you are unsure about anything, please post here and ask before recording!

Everyone can contribute as many recordings as he/she wants.
It's OK to submit readings in English (English being a language, I figure), but as there are plenty of other places to put those, let's limit them to special cases such as interesting regional dialects or accents.

If you are interested to see what has been done previously, check the previous Multilingual Collections in our catalog (but we welcome multiple versions of the same work).

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

At the END, say: "End of [Title], by [Author Name]"

OK, Nastya, the MW is up and ready, while the last collection is deriving at archive right now!

I think we will do the same as last time, we will have this open for six months, or until all 20 sections are in, whichever comes first!

This appears to be a solo on search - it is a group collection isn't it?

Ah a new collection. Well, as promised, here is another Luxembourgish contribution. It's again a song/poem from a Luxembourgish operetta (we seem to have plenty of those LOL), this time by a less known author though.

•URL for the mp3 file: https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/msw016_heigetetmuorgensfreeraus_liez_ss_128kb.mp3
•Duration: 1:26 min.
•URL for online text: (again from our National Library): http://www.eluxemburgensia.lu/BnlViewer/view/index.html?lang=en#panel:pp|issue:2986651|page:5
•Title of work: Hei gêt et Muôrgens frě eraus
•Date of publication: 1895
•Name of author: Nicolas Liez
•Birth date and date of death of author: (1864-1941)
•URL for author information: (unfortunately I only found him on the Luxembourgish Wiki): https://lb.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolas_Liez_(Redakter)
•Brief indication of the work in a few words: operetta song / comedy on healing practices and marriage arranging
•Language: Luxembourgish

again, Sandra (catharmaiden) already volunteered to PL my recording :)

Hi,
here's my contribution. I hope everything is ok.

URL for the mp3 file from the Uploader - https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/msw016_trionfodibaccoearianna_demedici_f_128kb.mp3
Duration of recording (mm:ss) - 02:54
URL for online text -https://it.wikisource.org/wiki/Canti_carnascialeschi_(Lorenzo_de%27_Medici)/VII._Canzona_di_Bacco
Title of work - Trionfo di Bacco e Arianna (also known as Canzona di Bacco)
Date of publication - XV secolo
Name of author - Lorenzo de' Medici
Birth date and date of death of author if available (xxxx-xxxx) - (1449-1492)
URL for author information (e.g. wikipedia) if available -https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorenzo_de%27_Medici
Brief indication of the work in a few words: (for example: poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, genre or keywords; will be used in the summary) carnival song
Language: Italian

In the album tag I wrote "LibriVox Multilingual Short Works Collection 016" instead of 015, is that right?

Another question, may I read a famous part of Platone's Repubblica if it's shorter tha 60 minutes or it must be a complete work?

Thanks!

Hello!
Thanks for your recording. You don't need to put tags actually. More than two years ago it was needed but now it is put automatically.

I don't remember if someone ever wanted to read a passage from somewhere. Usually, there were poetry and short stories. However, we don't have a project for parts, especially multilingual one. If you really want to read it and the passage is all-sufficient as it is (has a complete idea) you can, but make sure it is up to 60 minutes.
