Hello!

After my failure in understanding US copyright laws, I continue with a book that must be in PD since I find it at Project Gutenberg.

Det går an, by Carl Jonas Love Almquist, is one of the first modern novels in Swedish, and its rather controversial themes (a man and a women living together outside marriage) finally forced the author to migrate to the USA.

E-text here and here.

It is quite short, so I think that it would be suitable.

You're right, that is in the Public Domain in the USA.

It ain't necessarily so. ;) Not every book on Project Gutenberg is in the Public Domain. There are copyrighted works that are included with permission, so always check the copyright status on the Bibrec tab of a book. Here's an example of a copyrighted work: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5200

Since the book was originally published in Sweden in the 1800s, I guess that is "must" be PD! :)
