For the past several days I have been unable to download zip files of several books. Neither of the download buttons are responsive and when I click several times I get a fleeting message "Waiting for archive." :help:

I've narrowed the download problem down. Can't download books by Dickens.

What browser and operating system, and how are you trying to download them? (Are you clicking on the "Download" button on the catalog pages?)

It would also be helpful to provide a link or two to a book that doesn't work for you. :)

No matter how many times I click, the zip link on this project (https://librivox.org/the-cloister-and-the-hearth-by-charles-reade/) doesn't do anything. Might be the same problem, might be different.

Someone else recently had a problem, where the download link seemed dead. If you ctrl-click on it (to open in a new tab) or right-click and select "open in a new tab" or "Download link as" it will bring up the dialog box to save or open the file.

It might be a browser issue.

It is happening with Chrome, a direct click on the download links no longer works, but right click and open in new tab works as Tricia posted. In Edge, the download buttons work as expected so it does appear to be browser related.

Same with Firefox:

Left click on download button gives
Opening the_cloister_and_the_hearth_1907_librivox.zip

..... could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
... but right clicking on the button triggers the download.

For me, it downloads just fine with the left click - FF 83.0.

I think this is an issue with Chrome because the cataloging system makes the Zip file with an http address instead of https, so Chrome gets a nosebleed thinking that it's an unsafe Zip file. Opening it in a new tab seems to make Chrome behave.
