I used the search on your site to look for the book Dr Heidenhoff's Process (by Edward Bellamy).

The search string was
dr heidenhoff's process
It gave me an error page which stated
An Error Was Encountered

The URI you submitted has disallowed characters.
And the URI of that page was
That is, it showed the apostrophe correctly, and it also showed spaces direct in the URI bar. So you have an issue of escaping characters rather than correctly substituting URI-appropriate string expansions (like %20 for space) or your own search's version of this.

I'm not sure exactly what the problem would be. I searched on "Dr Heidenhoff's Process" (no quote marks) and got the expected result - no records, but no error message. I tried "Brother's Keeper" and got an expected find.

Did you perhaps copy and post in the typographer's apostrophe? That's the only explanation I can have. :hmm:

P.S. Looked up the title and found it on Wikipedia. Sounds interesting! I might have to launch it as a group project!

That's odd, I always get that message - I just leave out the ' in searches by shortening the word. I mean if I want to look for smith's I look for smith not smiths.
I'm using Firefox - what do you use ?

I'm using Waterfox, which is a "fork" of Firefox, like an old version of FF but with security updates.

Internet Explorer doesn't work, apparently.

When I quickly grab the search URL before it changes, it is

Code: Select all

https://librivox.org/search?q=doctor+heidenhoff%27s+process&search_form=advanced
Maybe Waterfox uses the apostrophe code, while other browsers don't? :hmm:
