Hi,

"Giriş of the Mesnevi (Cilt 1)" in Multilingual Poetry Collection 020 is listed as English but it's in Turkish. Also the e-text link points to another text from the same collection (La luna y la muerte), which is also broken.

I've done the easy part - changed the language to Turkish. The text links will require someone found back through the thread to find the correct link.

Merhaba Carolin,

That's from Veled Chelebi's translation. Although it's all over the internet, if I may, I want to seize the opportunity to promote the Mesnevi site I'm volunteering for: http://www.mesnevi.org/3/50/tur/1/1/

ah very cool. i see a (c) at the bottom of the page. is the text itself in the public domain? i looked up the previous vikikaynak text and that was in the public domain, but it is difficult to tell with these texts.

any chance i can convince you to record some of the mesnevi (or any other public domain texts) for librivox? it would be so cool to get more turkish on here! :D

The copyright notice isn't for the texts -I guess it's for the layout etc-, but according to my research that translation still doesn't fulfill LV criteria:
Veled Çelebi İzbudak, (ö. 1953) Mesnevî'nin tamamını nesir olarak tercüme etmiştir. İlk olarak, dönemin Maarif Bakanı Hasan Ali Yücel'in teşvikiyle 1942 yılında, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından altı cilt olarak yayınlanmıştır.
There's Abidin Pasha's translation (plus commentary) of the first book of Mesnevi which was published in 1890s, but I can't find an online text with Latin script. I suppose one reason why there aren't many Turkish LibriVox recordings is that most people can't read or aren't fluent with the Ottoman script which was what was used in almost all Turkish books that fulfill the LV criteria. Personally I'm not fluent enough to read it directly either but I can participate by transliterating little pieces both for myself and others.
