I was listening to http://librivox.org/library-of-worlds-best-mystery-and-detective-stories-volume-1-by-julian-hawthorne-ed/ and when I got toward the end of section 5, I found myself confused. (This is not an uncommon state for me, by any means.) Anyway, I checked out the text and found that at 33:25 there is a piece missing. The recording goes:
"Mason took the paper from the envelope. It was written in Spanish, and ran :"

<missing chunk>

"Walcott sat with his head down,"
The missing text is on pages 78-79 of the PDF file linked to the recording:

Excellent recording by Sheri--just not enough of it. :D

Thanks for pointing it out, Debra. Apparently, Sher-e hasn't been back to the forums in a while, I think we will need someone else to record the chunk. :hmm: It's just a couple of paragraphs.

Edit: I've made this into a sticky, so we won't forget it! :)

I'll volunteer for that, Leni. I took a listen, and I think our voices are a pretty good match - we have a similar voice-quality.
What is the best way to proceed?
Shall I download one of files and insert it, then upload the whole chapter?

That would be great, Patti! Yes, please, get the best quality file, insert it and reupload it with the same name to my folder.

Thanks!

35:34 minutes
32.5 MB

Here is the corrected file. I removed some plosives and "Marilyns" and amplified it while I was at it.

What is a "Marilyn?" I feel like I'm missing out.

Marilyn Monroe stuttered, didn't she? Perhaps they are st-st-stumbles.

Sorry, I thought 'marilyn' was a common term on LV...
Yes - it's the breathy sounds.

File replaced, and project rederived. Catalogue page amended.

I am intrigued by one little thing -the patch begins now at 30:23, rather than 33:25, and the whole file is 2 minutes shorter than the original, rather than 1 minute longer. Was the original recording speeded up?
