There is an error in the recording of Pamela, or Virtue Rewarded

found at: http://librivox.org/pamela-by-samuel-richardson/

I downloaded the book by subscribing in iTunes.

There is text missing between Section 26 and Section 27 of the recording. Both section 26 and section 27 seem to be complete files, so I think that text was simply omitted.

The text that was omitted begins as follows:

"Monday, the fifth day.

I have had very little of my dear friend's company this day; for he
only staid breakfast with me, and rode out to see a sick gentleman about
eighteen miles off, who begged (by a man and horse on purpose) to speak
with him, believing he should not recover, and upon part of whose estate
my master has a mortgage."

and ends as follows:

"I was all abashed; and took Miss Darnford's hand, and said, Save me,
dear miss, by your sweet example, from my rising pride. But could I
deserve half these kind things, what a happy creature should I be! said
Miss Darnford, You deserve them all, indeed you do."

Thank you for reporting this. It certainly seems that we have a problem - it is a chunk of about 12,000 words that is missing, so this is not going to be a quick fix, but it will be done as soon as we can. :)

Once again, thank you for letting us know. :)

You are quite welcome! I love Librivox and use the recordings all the time...I'm glad to be able to help in this tiny way.

At this point in my life, volunteering as a reader would be foolhardy, but I sincerely appreciate the effort put in by you and everyone else who makes these wonderful recordings!

I am delighted to report that this has now been corrected, thanks to willing and very prompt reader TriciaG and proof-listener Anne. :D

All files may now be found at http://librivox.org/pamela-by-samuel-richardson/. The catalogue page has been amended and the zip file checked for completeness. :)
