One track of Chapter 9 of The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad is attenuated and echo-y.

I've verified it in the zip file, 64k, and 128k versions.

Someone should double check me, of course, but unless I am found to be completely high and someone has a pristine version elsewhere they'd prefer to use, I've done the editing and uploaded it here:

You are a marvel of efficiency! I'll replace the bad file with your new one.

You might be interested to know that The Secret Agent was (I think) our very first completed book! (unless I, too, am completely high and misremembering ;-)

Thanks Kara! Apparently we're both unimpaired (have to do something about that...). And, yes, it was the first, or at least the catalog so states.

The Secret Agent is Conrad’s dark, and darkly comic story of a band of spies, anarchists, agents-provocateurs plotting and counter-plotting in the back streets of London in the early 20th Century. The novel centers on Verloc, a shop-owner, phony-anarchist and double-agent, who becomes embroiled in an ambitious terrorist plan to bomb the Greenwich Observatory.

The Secret Agent was the first recording done for LibriVox.

(Summary by Hugh McGuire)

[And, no, I haven't decided to go through the catalog in chronological order to look for errors. I just happen to be in the midst of a Joseph Conrad canon]

Ok, 'tis uploaded and re-deriving now. When this page

http://www.archive.org/details/secretagent

shows all three file types for ch. 9 (and a new zip) it's all done!
