This will deflnitely need confirmation because it's been a while since I downloaded it, but the first podcast is labeled as section 01, "On Being Idle", when it's actually section 00, a dedication and preface. The error is carried through the rest of the chapters, with the fifteenth podcast just being labelled the fifteenth.

I relabeled all mine and meant to come here and report directly, but I got distracted ^_^;;;, and as I've said, it's been a while.

My apologies!

Yes, they're in the right order, but the names are wrong.

Just clicked on the RSS Feed link in the catalog page using IE 7 and here's what it shows.

The first feed is labelled {01 "On Being Idle" by Jerome, Jerome K.} but actually downloads the following: {http://www.archive.org/download/idle_thoughts_librivox/idlethoughts_00_jerome_64kb.mp3}

and each of the folowing feeds is similar until the last one.

The last feed is labelled {15_idle_thoughts_of_an_idle} but actually downloads the following: {http://www.archive.org/download/idle_thoughts_librivox/idlethoughts_14_jerome_64kb.mp3}.

Anyone who wants to help problem-solve is VERY welcome to join in. Confirming file-cutoffs, giving further details of a problem, or even noting that a problematic download appears to be working now -- all very helpful stuff.

Once a problem has been sorted out, a forum admin will de-sticky the thread and mark the title [RESOLVED], [FIXED] and so on.

EVERYONE here is a unpaid volunteer. We'll do our best in fixing things as quickly as possible -- and appreciate your help in doing that, as well as your patience if it's a tricksey issue.
As this problem with rss feed mislabeling (and also the other thread regarding Bleak House) have not been made "sticky", does this mean that they are not considered worthy of resolution?

I've stickied this one, on the assumption that it's something we can fix ... Bleak House isn't something we can resolve directly, hence no sticky.

Thanks for the nudge, Chris -- so ... does anyone know about fixing our podcasts..? I know quite a lot of the cataloguing process by now, but this bit has always been automated for me, and I don't know whereabouts to look under the hood.

Thanks Cori.

Are the rss feeds generated automatically? If not, and they are an 'option' perhaps it would be as well to desist from them while the problem is identified?

If they are automatically generated by archive.org, then it may be that they need to be notified of the problem?

I know nothing of rss feeds, but perhaps your 'techie' expert knows?

The RSS feeds are generated automatically ... it's not optional, and there're no other reported problems of this exact sort (as far as I've seen, anyway) so I'm guessing it's something specific to this project, or its cataloguing. I also think that we generate them, rather than archive.org ... which may make it easier to fix, but also takes longer, since I think we'll need to hang on for DigiSage to orbit through and make suggestions.

Luckily this doesn't affect the playing of the files, or their ordering (if I understand the first post correctly) -- it is about not confusing people ... and heading off any problems of people downloading just one file through the RSS (if that's how it works ... I've never used iTunes meself.)

Depneding on which podcatcher you are using, it could affect the naming of the fetched files, as well as how they are displayed. It can get a bit confusng if you click on "Chapter Two" and the voice in the recording says "Chapter One".

Just looking at this again ... all our books which have a section labelled 00 have this issue. I'm not sure this can be altered, since the RSS feed is a simple numbering system, and 0 isn't a number. (Not meaning to get all philosophical here, but for the purposes of counting, the first file is 1, even if it's numbered 00.) The same thing is likely to be happening with Track Numbers, since again, it's impossible to have a zero-th track.
