Notes on Error Reports

This forum is to report, and check (everyone is encouraged to help check!), technical problems with LibriVox files, such as:
  • problems downloading
  • significant deviations from the text
  • truncation of files
  • corrupted files
  • bad links
  • bad metadata (file names, ID3 tags)
  • inaudible audio
  • etc.
The forum is NOT for reporting readers/volunteers or books that you do not like. If you wish to do this, please send an email to: info(AT)librivox(DOT)org

Also please note, Archive.org hosts our files and occasionally has hiccups. Often download problems sort themselves out after a day or two, so if you have troubles with a download, the best thing is to check again later.

Error Report Format
To make life easiest for people checking the problem, to the extent possible, it would be much appreciated if you could start a new topic and put your report in the following format:
  1. Make the subject of the post the full title text as it appears in our catalog
    In the post, please list:
  2. Name of Book (eg, Poems of William Blake)
  3. Catalog page URL (eg. http://librivox.org/poems-of-william-blake-by-william-blake/)
  4. Chapter/Section Number
  5. File format (64kbps mp3, 128 kbps mp3, ogg vorbis)
  6. How you downloaded the file (individual download, zip download, ftp, podcast download)
  7. Nature of problem
  8. Time or times-location of problems (if possible)

Other notes:

Once a forum admin has read the post, they'll 'sticky' the problem thread (so we never lose track of what's current.)

Anyone who wants to help problem-solve is VERY welcome to join in. Confirming file-cutoffs, giving further details of a problem, or even noting that a problematic download appears to be working now -- all very helpful stuff.

Once a problem has been sorted out, a forum admin will de-sticky the thread and mark the title [RESOLVED], [FIXED] and so on.

EVERYONE here is a unpaid volunteer. We'll do our best in fixing things as quickly as possible -- and appreciate your help in doing that, as well as your patience if it's a tricksey issue.
There's honestly no such thing as a stupid question -- but I'm afraid I can't rule out giving a stupid answer : : To Posterity and Beyond!
