What The Left Hand ... Was Doing, by Randall Garrett (1927 - 1987)

This project can now be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/what-the-left-hand-was-doing-by-randall-garrett/

Volunteers outside the USA: Randall Garrett died in 1987. This person's work may still be protected by copyright in countries where copyright duration is determined by the author's death date. In Europe this is 70 years; in Canada it is 50 years; and in Australia it is 70 years for authors who died after 1955.
The Society For Mystical and Metaphysical Research, Inc. .....

It is possible that no more nearly perfect cover, no more misleading front for a secret organization ever existed in the history of man. It possessed two qualities which most other cover-up titles do not have. One, it was so obviously crackpot that no one paid any attention to it except crackpots, and, two, it was perfectly, literally true. (Summary by the author)

Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'm not going to get to it tonight, but I ran it through Checker and got a volume of only 83.6 dB. There are no big peaks so you can do a straight amplify.

Part 2 is in the magic window. And I fixed the first file that was low. It should be much louder now. My foolproof system for volume must not be completely fool proof, eh? :D

Phil - Part 1 is PL OK. Other proofing jobs are coming in, so What the Left Hand ... Was Doing has slid down my priority list. (I know you'll understand.) I'll get back to section 2 in a bit.

And Part 2 is PL OK.
I had a bit of trouble adjusting my level of disbelief during this half. So - no teleportation of levitation for me in the near future.

Ready to publish.

Rich I always assumed your level of disbelief was permanently set to the "That Sounds Reasonable To Me" level with the huge amount of PLing you do. Hard to believe that a smidgen of emotional teleportation, levitation and other stuff would cause you to even blink. ha anyway, thanks. 8-)
