Just David, by Eleanor H. Porter (1868 - 1920)

This project is now in our catalog at https://librivox.org/just-david-version-2-by-eleanor-h-porter/
Just David is the story of David, a little boy of 10 who is suddenly transplanted from a quiet, shut away world of music (he plays the violin) in the mountains with his father, to the hustle and bustle of a normal small town after his father dies. He is a boy filled with love of music and love of everything beautiful in the world, from sunsets to shiny bugs. Yes, he has a good sweet heart and it comes through in this novel. Written by the author of Pollyanna, it is a story of how he brings his own character, courage and happiness into the lives of the people he meets, and wins their love and respect but more importantly, changes their lives as they come to see the world through his eyes as a wondrus place not the dull, humdrum place they are used to. IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Phil!

I can’t open the file for Chapter 1. Did some investigating and it looks like the file name ends with .mp3+ rather than just .mp3 :hmm:

Was able to listen to some of the chapters this evening.

Chapter 2 Notes:
0:23- heard "packing them neatly away in a box to the left."; text reads "packing them neatly away in a box to be left."
Ending- there is only about 1 second of silence at the end.

Chapters 3 and 4 are PL-OK!

Chapter 5 Notes:
7:59 to 8:01- repeat of "guiltily"
8:46-8:49- repeat of "You mean at home?"

Chapter 6 is PL-OK! (really loved this chapter and the whole "necessary nuisances" aka house chores!)
