Witchcraft of New England Explained by Modern Spiritualism, by Allen Putnam (1802 - 1887)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/witchcraft-of-new-england-allen-putnam/
"It is not our purpose to write history, but to give new explanation of old events. The long and widely tolerated theory that New England witchcraft was exclusively but out-workings of mundane fraud, imposture, cunning, trickery, malice, and the like, has never adequately met the reasonable demand of common sense, which always asks that specified agents and forces shall be probably competent to produce all such effects as are distinctly ascribed to them." (Summary by Allen Putnam from his "Preface")
Source text (please read only from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/36312/

Target completion date: 0-12-00

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I shortened the filenames. They just need to be unique and unless the author has written multiple books on NE witchcraft, they likely still are. Long ones can cause issues. If you decide to combine text sections, we can easily delete any unused audio sections in the MW. Finally, do we need to advertise for a DPL?

edit: Btw, I've visited Salem, MA several times.

Thank you! I figured I would need to shorten it, but I wasn't sure the procedure for that. But, that makes sense when considering the author.
I may combine some sections, so I'll let you know if we need to remove any.

Also, I love Salem! I go every year for my birthday. If I were to ever live in a city, I'd pick Salem. :D

I just added a ~ before the title in the subject line of the topic to let everyone know we need a DPL. Only Admins can delete sections. It can be done after you are finished recording.

Perfect, thank you! I combined some sections and split up others. It looks like we'll only need to remove one unused one.

Here's section 00.
Whoever may PL this might notice a regular clicking-like sound in the background. I couldn't figure out what it was at first until halfway in when I realized it was my own jaw. So, I can't really do anything about it. lol

Section 01

It seems to get more interesting once these two sections are over!

Hi--
I would be interested in being the DPL for this project if you still are looking for someone.

Thanks!
