Morning Work by D. H. Lawrence (1885 - 1930)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/morning-work-by-d-h-lawrence/
This Weekly poem is taken from Love Poems and Others by D. H. Lawrence (1913)(Summary by David Lawrence)(no relation)
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This week's poem can be found here.
Project Code: e4fySxtX

New to recording? Please see our Newbie Guide to Recording for further instructions. A quick guide to our required technical settings can be found here. When you post your file, please tell the BC what name you would like to use in our catalog.

LibriVox recording settings: mono (1 channel), 44100 Hz sample rate, 128 kbps constant bit rate MP3. See the Tech Specs

Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
Leave 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning.
Morning Work by D. H. Lawrence, read for librivox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, and/or your location.]
Then read the poem:
A gang of labourers on the piled wet timber
That shines blood-red beside the railway siding
Seem to be making out of the blue of the morning
Something faery and fine, the shuttles sliding,

The red-gold spools of their hands and faces shuttling
Hither and thither across the morn’s crystalline frame
Of blue: trolls at the cave of ringing cerulean mining,
And laughing with work, living their work like a game.
At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.
Leave 5 seconds of silence at the end.

I asked my librarian about the noise, and she said, "no one would come here
if they weren't allowed to talk out loud." So I read out loud.

Welcome to LibriVox Angie :D good first reading...
however, there are a couple of tech items to correct
- the file is in stereo, we need a mono recording
- your bitrate is 105 kbps (variable), we need a bitrate of 128 kbps (constant), this is set when you save/export a file in Audacity
*We need these settings for cataloging purposes.
**You can check your volume and other settings using our Checker program - see info at http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker

***Please let me know under what name you would like to appear in the LV catalog and if you have one, we can put your personal URL link on your catalog page too.
You can view your brand new LV Catalog page by clicking your forum name in the Magic Window.
