[SOLO] Bible (RV) NT 02: Mark by Revised Version

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/mark-by-erv/

The Gospel according to Mark, also called the Gospel of Mark, or simply Mark, is the second of the four canonical gospels and of the three synoptic Gospels. It tells of the ministry of Jesus from his baptism by John the Baptist, his Transfiguration on a mountain, his describing of the Greatest Commandments, to his death, burial, and the discovery of his empty tomb. There is no miraculous birth or doctrine of divine pre-existence, nor, in the original ending, any post-resurrection appearances of Jesus. It portrays Jesus as a heroic man of action, and credits him with being an exorcist, a healer, and a miracle worker. He is also called the Son of God, but keeps his messianic nature secret, with even his disciples failing to understand him. (Summary by Wikipedia)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Greetings -

glennobrien, I think this is the first time I have PLed any of your readings.

Chapter 1 has been marked as PL OK. Nicely read.

Mark is one of my favorite books of the Bible, so I am looking forward to the effort.

Waiting for Chapter 2.

Greetings -

More good reading from glennobrien:

Chapter 2 has just one item that needs attention:

TIME: 04:10 TEXT: "How he entered into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest," Reading has this phrase repeated.

Chapter 3 is PL OK.

Greetings -

Notes on Chapter 4:

The opening period of silence is close to two seconds long. It needs to be trimmed down to about 1/2 of a second.

TIME: 04:20 TEXT: "so that the birds of the heaven can lodge under the shadow thereof." It sounds like the word "birds" is pronounced as "seeds" instead.

TIME: 05:21 TEXT: "Why are ye fearful? have ye not yet faith?" The word "ye" is used instead of "yet".

Notes on Chapter 5:

TIME: 03:05 TEXT: "and beseecheth him much, saying, My little" TEXT: The phrase "and beseecheth" is repeated.

Otherwise, these would be PL OK recordings.

Keep up the good work, Glenn.
