The Forgotten Man and Other Essays, by William Graham Sumner (1840 - 1910)

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-forgotten-man-by-william-graham-sumner/
Sumner's popular essays were to give him a wider audience to distribute his anti-imperialism, his advocacy of free markets and the gold standard. He also had a long term influence over modern American conservatism. This is the final collection of his essays and is edited by Albert Galloway Keller. It concludes with The Forgotten Man where Sumner argued that, in his day, politics was being subverted by those proposing a "measure of relief for the evils which have caught public attention. May I have Section 10, Tariff Reform?

Thanks again,

Wayne

Hi again again,

I was just looking through it and thinking about it, and I think I am going to try and eat "the elephant in the room". I will ask to claim by far the largest reading I have tried so far. I (I am typing this very slowly as I contemplate what I am committing to) am going to request "The Forgotten Man". Yes, all 10,000 words plus. I have even figured out a good place to split it up.

OK, I am ready to 'submit' this. Here I go,

Wayne

Hi Wayne happy for you to read that piece. I haven't finished populating the MW yet but happy for you to split this up however it is easiest for you. Do you still want section 10 as well not a problem either way.

So the intros will be

The forgotten man Part 1 etc and the outros will just be end of section. The only issue is that at this point I won't know what section number it is until I have sorted out all the other parts before it. Will try to get that done tonight in case you want to get started is that ok. Let me know if it doesn't make sense. :D

Hi Wayne I have now completed the MW and the Forgotten Man starts at Section 40. Happy for you to split it up as you see fit. I was going to split it into four parts but will leave it up to you if you want to do 2, 3 or 4 parts. If you could let me know so that I can update the MW thanks

Michele, I'll wait for a go-ahead from you to move the project to Readers Wanted. Also, let me know if you'd like to put it into Short Works or Books.

Thanks,
