The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896 - 1940).

Set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, the novel depicts narrator Nick Carraway's interactions with mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and Gatsby's obsession to reunite with his former lover, Daisy Buchanan." • 1. Is there a deadline?
     We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool.   2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
     To find a part to record, simply look at column 2 "Title". All the roles without names beside them (in the "Reader" column) are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which role you would like to read. Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.

Yes, my plan was to play Nick. How would you like to play Gatsby? You'd be fantastic! All the other male roles are also open. Cadastra will be playing Daisy.
But... if you really want to play Nick, I could be Jordan. That'd be fun for me too (and less work). But, for now... I'll reserve Gatsby for you.
(I've tried to script the book to have the narrator's part read by as many people as possible (so I've given lots of paraphrased sections and backstory explanations to the characters themselves, rather than to the narrator -- makes for more exciting drama).

Wow, lots of excitement building, as expected. I'll admit, when I read this book in high school, I hated it. When I read it again 6 or 8 years ago, I still disliked it, although I could kind of see what others saw in it. I'm not sure I'll ever really like it...
