All in the Day's Work by Ida Tarbell (1857 - 1944).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

https://librivox.org/all-in-the-days-work-by-ida-tarbell/

In this autobiography, written when the author was 82 years old, Ida Tarbell looks back at her life and remarkable career as an investigative journalist. Ms. Tarbell is best know for her 1904 work, "The History of the Standard Oil Company," which was a significant factor in the dissolution of the Standard Oil monopoly. She was a noted writer and lecturer, served on two presidential committees, and is considered by her actions to be an important feminist (although she was critical of the feminist movement). • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

If you haven't secured a DPL yet, I would be glad to join you. I love your reading, and this would be a fascinating book to listen to.

I put Lynette in earlier as DPL or so I thought. I had her in the Alternate BC spot instead. That's fixed now. My apologies for any confusion.

Here we go! Looks like these chapters are even longer than I thought. Hope you don't mind. They will be hitting the MW at a slower pace than previous things we've done, I would imagine. \
Which is the long way of saying that chapter 1 is up.

That *is* longer than your usual books - but no problem at all. If need be on any of them, I'll just split them in half for proofing. :)

Chapter 1 is PL OK.

Lots of great information. If all the chapters are this interesting, this is going to be quite good!

I am glad you like it! :D Chapter 2 is now ready!

Hey, I just noticed that there is a chapter 00 in the MW, so instead of this being chapter 2, it is chapter 1. The book does not have a preface.

You must have accidentally checked the box on the template indicating the book had a preface. Not a big deal. I've changed the section numbers to start with 1 instead of 0. :)
