Trinummus: The Three Pieces of Money by Titus Maccius Plautus (254 BCE - 184 BCE). Translated by Henry Thomas Riley (1816 - 1878)

Buried treasure, reckless son, exile, young love, betrayal, detection - all as relevant today as when this comedy was written 2200 years ago.

Here we go again. Gender neutral, and Kitty will lead off in Luxury but still take time from peeling grapes to DPL your lines.

Remember that there is SOME FUNNY FORMATTING: apparently to save paper, if a character's line is short, another character may have a line on the same text line. Beware!

    1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/comediesofplautu01plauiala/page/n8/mode/1up
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Thank you. Perfect. PL OK. Although I am not sure of the ethics involved with bankrupting someone and then sending in your daughter. Tsk, tsk.

Here is poverty, not much to say as is to be expected. I couldn't find her in act 1 though?

The prolog/Act 1 is really a note to me - I will be creating one file with both of those together.

Thanks, Todd

yes it seems she only had this one line, then she trots off into the house to bring misery to the guy. Still...you took the most out of your role, so thanks, flawlessly done and PL ok. :)

Hi Todd,

If I claim the Stage Directions, can I assume I don’t have to read all the stuff in the small print?

If I don’t, i’d like to claim them.

Thanks,

Wayne

P.S. Please bare with me as to the pronunciation of the Greek names.

To my aged eyes everything in this play is in small print.

Be that as it may, The narration will not include "The Subject", "The Acrostic Argument", or any footnotes.

For Greek names, I think of it as Latin - no silent letters, accent on the next to last syllable. Except, of course, when it is not that way. Now, as far as I am concerned for pronunciations, so long as you are consistent throughout the play in your own files, that is enough. But if you really want help for correctness, Sonia knows like 123 languages and can tell you authoritatively how things are pronounced, including variations for place and year and social status and rank. (Not that there is any guarantee that the readers with those names will pronounce them "correctly" either though.)

So, do I sign you up?

Thanks, Todd

Wayne, please take anything Todd says about me with a grain of salt.
