An Adventure (1911) by Charlotte Anne Elizabeth Moberly (1846 - 1937).

The Moberly–Jourdain incident was an event that occurred on 10 August 1901 in the gardens of the Petit Trianon, involving two female academics, Charlotte Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain. The women were both from educated backgrounds. During a trip to Versailles, they visited the Petit Trianon, a small château in the grounds of the Palace of Versailles, where they allegedly experienced a time slip, and saw Marie Antoinette as well as other people of the same period. After researching the history of the palace, and comparing notes of their experience, they published their work in a book entitled An Adventure, under the names of Elizabeth Morison and Frances Lamont, in 1911. Their story caused a sensation, and was subject to much ridicule.

This is the book they wrote under anonymous names a year later. ( )

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I can't set this up and MC it, because I'm chock full of MC projects at the moment.

However, your MC will need to know an approximate number of sections to set it up. Perhaps the number of chapters, plus a section for any intro/preface. The number can be adjusted later, but we need at least a ball park estimate. :)

Hi!
I will take this and set it up, but - just as Tricia already said, I need some estimate as to how many sections there are going to be in this project.

Hello Kristine,

Thank you!

I actually wanted to have your advice on this.

I've estimated the number of sections (30) and arranged them that way. But, as you can see below, a good part of those sections are either really small or really long (< 3 pages or > 20).
The way this book is a bit unusual, at least for me, so I'm a bit unsure if this would be a good way to define those sections or not.

If a item is in bold, it means it's just a title, not a section to be read.
Preface (1.5 pages)

Chapter One : Three Visits to the Petit Trianon
Part-1 Miss Morison's Account of the First Visit to the Petit Trianon (13.5 pages)
Part-2 Miss Lamont's Account of her First Visit to the Petit Trianon in 1901 (10.5 pages)
Part-3 Miss Lamont's Account of her Second Visit to the Petit Trianon (6 pages)
Part-4 1902-4 (2.5 pages)
Part-5 [Has no name, but is a separate account] (5.5 pages)

Chapter Two : Summary of Results of Research
Part-1 The Plough (2 pages)
Part-2 The Guards (2.5 pages)
Part-3 Cottage, Woman, and Girl (2 pages)
Part-4 The Kiosk (3 pages)
Part-5 The man by the Kiosk (2 pages)
Part-6 The Running Man (13 pages)
Part-7 Bridge over Little Cascade (3 pages)
Part-8 Isolated Rock (2.5 pages)
Part-9 Pelouse (1 pages)
Part-10 The Lady (4 pages)
Part-11 Jeu de Bague (2.5 pages)
Part-12 The Chapel Man (8 pages)
Part-13 Two labourers with cart (1.5 pages)
Part-14 The wood (2.5 pages)
Part-15 The Music (4 pages)
Part-16 The Tall Gardener (2.5 pages)

Chapter Three : Answers to questions which we have been asked (21 pages)

Chapter Four : A reverie
Part-1 A possible Historical Clue (42 pages)

APPENDIX
Part-1 [Has no name, but is a separate account] (12.5 pages)
Part-2 Years in which points were discovered (8.5 pages)
Part-3 Miss [Morison's] account of the visit to the petit trianon (6 pages)
Part-4 Miss [Lamont's] account of the incidents (3.5 pages)
Part-5 Miss [Morison's] account of the visit to the petit trianon in 1901 (8 pages)
Part-6 Miss [Lamont's] account of the same expedition in 1901 (5 pages)

Your division looks acceptable to me with some small adjustments.

I do not think that it is a problem if sections differ in length, some 2 pages and some 20, as long as they do not get too long in terms of recording minutes. The maximum acceptable for one file here at librivox is 72 minutes, but I myself would prefer to divide such a long section in two, as it is much easier both for reader and listeners as well. According to this, I'd say you probably should think about dividing that chapter 4 Part-1 A possible Historical Clue (42 pages) and possibly also ch 3 (21 pages) in smaller pieces.
On the other hand, if you do not like many small sections (though there are not so many actually and not so small either, compared to poetry projects for example) - anyway, if you feel like it, you can always combine some of the smaller parts in one. If it was my project, I'd probably leave them as is.

I'll set up the project with 30 sections for now, we can easily change the final count later.

Have you edited the Magic Window in some previous project?

Thank you!

This is my first solo project, so I've never edited a Magic Window before.
I could have Chapter Three part One and Two and try to divide the Chapter Four into four parts.

If you need a DPL, I can take on another project. My current load has me occasionally with half a day left wondering what to listen to. 8-)

If you'll have me, I am here.

Hello Everyone,

First I hope you're all okay wherever you are.
I just wanted to say that with all that has happened, I had to take more time on other stuff.
I'm not dropping the ball, I just wanted to let you know why it hasn't progressed yet.
I'm hoping to be able to go back to it in the next days :)
