The Man of the Desert by Grace Livingston Hill (1865 - 1947).

Fleeing the unwanted attentions of an aggressive suitor, wealthy and beautiful Hazel Radcliffe becomes hopelessly lost in the Arizona desert. Weak and weary, she falls unconscious from her horse. Soon Hazel is found by John Brownleigh, a handsome missionary who lives nearby. As he carefully nurses Hazel back to health, a strong and true love begins to grow between them. But John, poor and humble, knows he is not of Hazel's world, so he does not speak of his love. And because Hazel feels strongly unworthy of John and his work, she, too, remains silent. And so they part, without acknowledging the love between them. Back home among her family and friends, Hazel makes a startling decision. She will do all she can to change and become deserving of John's love. But can she do so before it's too late? (cribbed from Goodreads, will change before cataloging) (LikeManyWaters)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I will probably not start this until January b/c of the holidays & I also want to wrap up two more chapters of narration for my DR.
I've been averaging about a chapter a week, so I expect this will be my rate once I start.

April,
I can't DPL but listened to chapter 1. Great start.

You have an extra ‘Grace Livingston Hill’ in the first part of the intro.

"Chapter 1 of The Man of the Desert. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"

Served him right to get thrown off his horse!

I hope you enjoyed your holidays!

Thank you. I’ll fix that next time I upload. :)

Yes, I did. Only I’m ready for the mud to dry up. We’ve had a bit of rain. Hope you did too (have a good holiday that is), 🥳 and Happy New Year!

Got another in this week. Ch 3 ready. Don't worry, they won't always come this fast.

PS - Any sort of constructive criticism or suggestions is always welcome.

April,
Are you using a different text source than the PG one listed in the first post? This is the first chapter I followed along with and there are definite differences. :hmm:
