Fruits of the Spirit by Hamilton Wright Mabie (1846 - 1916).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/fruits-of-the-spirit-by-hamilton-wright-mabie/
A collection of essays written by the renowned lecturer and author during the First World War, when he was quite depressed. The general themes of the collection are persevering in faith, guidance by the Holy Spirit and standing for the "Test of Courage". (Summary will be amended before cataloguing please) ( Beth Thomas)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/fruitsofspirit00mabiiala/page/n5
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'd love to dpl this.

It comes just as three of my other projects are approaching the finish line, though The Travels of Ibn Batuta may sit for a long time with one file yet to be completed while we wait for an Arabic speaker to do the Arabic parts of it; and then I wonder if we won't need another Arabic speaker to proof those bits  .

Thanks Patty! Great to have you back! I admit I was hoping this would work out for you, as the other Brengle book is almost finished. I was sorry not to have access to any more Brengle books, but I just can't find a PD version of the last book, although there should be one somewhere as it was published in 1923. That would be the last anyway though, as his other books were published after 1923.

We have everyone now, but I was thinking maybe this book should go into Short Works? The chapters are all very short.

Added Pattymarie as DPL.
As this is a collection of essays, it can certainly go into "Short works" forum if you wish. Moving the thread there...

This time you are in luck - but in future please post that you are planning to record a section, just in case the Magic Window isn’t fully up to date. If two people record the same file one will have to be discarded and that would be a shame!

Also, I’ll need the duration of the file in minutes and seconds (including the 5 seconds of silence at the end) please.

EDIT: I’ve just taken a quick listen - did you noise clean this file?

Here is a re-record---I found a different way to record that sounded much cleaner.
