Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (1832 - 1888) version 5.

This beloved classic tells the story of four sisters living in Massachusetts with their mother during the Civil War. Though times are hard, and everyone must pull together to keep the family afloat, there is much love between the sisters, and much fun to be had. The adventures of Meg, Jo, Amy, and Beth are as captivating today as they were when the book was written. ( Nan Dodge)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

MW coming up.

I'm obliged to mention that there is already a solo recording of this book. Choice of voice though is the motto at LV.

edit: Let me know if any changes are needed.

I know there is, but it's been a while. I would love to do a classic-classic. There are many versions of Wind in the Willows as well, so I thought for my early 2019 project I'd see how far I can go through the adventures of the March girls (and their significant others, and children, etc. )

If you can come up with a sexy alternative that doesn't have a solo version already, I am open to change. :)

Hi Nan,

A lot of my current DPL projects appear to be coming to an end. Would you like me to DPL this for you? Jennifer

Absolutely, thank you! I'm not going to speed through this one as I have some of the smaller children's books I've done lately. And there are a LOT of chapters. :)

I feel badly about starting this book (a full year ago!) and getting nowhere. I can either admit defeat, or get to it.

I guess part of me wants to do a book that doesn't have so many versions. On the other hand, it's Little Women ...

Thoughts?

It is of course your decision. Considering how famous the book is I'm surprised that there is only one solo recording in the LV catalog. Another would give listeners a choice (of voice) but I can understand your hesitation to start.

Okay, only one chapter to start. I want to get this one right because I love the book so much.
