The Little Colonel's Chum: Mary Ware by Annie Fellows Johnston (1863 - 1931).

Here is the first sequel, or shall we say continuation, of the Little Colonel stories, born of the pressures Annie Fellows Johnston received from her many young readers to continue the series. Although the Little Colonel herself is peripheral to this story, it is a true continuation of the saga. In this tale, we begin with the irascible Mary Ware beginning her first term at Warwick Hall. Mary's exploits are a delight to read. In many ways, this is the most charming and humorous story of the series --- that is until a tragic letter arrives from home. Then Mary, with the "bloodstone (as) her signet, sure token that undaunted courage was the jewel of her soul," shows that she, too, just as Edryn, can answer "The King's Call." (Temporary borrowed summary - to be replaced at cataloging)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/15867
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Thank you, Ruth! Very nice job ~ I enjoyed listening! :-)

There are a few minor issues. The first one is partially my fault, I should have made you aware of it before hand.

For the Preface, at that the very beginning it should say "Preface of.........etc.", not "Chapter 0".

In Chapter 1 there are two little issues:

@3:28 there is a minor repeat --- "Hawkins from his......from his"
And at the end it should say, "End of Chapter 1", not "End of Mary Enters Warwick".

If you could fix those and reupload, using the same file names, that would be great!

Hi Natsu,

Welcome to Librivox! Six and Seven are all yours!

Could you let me know what name you would like to use for your catalog page? It can be your real name, your forum name, or a pseudonym ~ whichever you prefer! We can also link to a personal website or blog.

Please make sure that you get an okay on your test before jumping into recording these!

Thanks and have fun!

Hi Maria,

Hope all is well. Chapter 3 is ready for PL.

https://librivox.org/uploads/m8b1/littlecolonelschum_03_johnston_128kb.mp3

Duration is 23:52.

Also I wonder if I could claim chapters 4 and 5? I am curious about how the Christmas visit to New York goes. :D

Whoops. I was reviewing my file and noticed I said Chapter 4 instead of Chapter 3. It is all fixed now but the duration of the file is 23:41.

Same link - https://librivox.org/uploads/m8b1/littlecolonelschum_03_johnston_128kb.mp3

Thanks
Alos
