Popular And Humorous Verses by Henry Lawson (1867 - 1922).

Verses, Popular and Humorous (1900) was the second collection of poems by Australian poet Henry Lawson. It was released in hardback by Angus and Robertson publishers in 1900.[1] It features some of the poet's earlier major works, including "The Lights of Cobb and Co", "Saint Peter" and "The Grog-An'-Grumble-Steeplechase". Most of the poems in the volume had been written after the publication of In the Days When the World was Wide and Other Verses in 1896.[1]
The original collection includes 66 poems by the author that are reprinted from various sources. Later publications split the collection into two separate volumes: Popular Verses and Humorous Verses, though the contents differed from the original list.[1] ( Wikipedia)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/52066
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Looks fine to me. Is this your first solo? That would be great. I will set this up for you.
I will add a tilde ~ to the title to advertise that we need a DPL. Is that OK?

If you do not have someone for a DPL, I'd be glad to help out.

Great!

Long day here that kind of fell apart, but I wanted to take a listen.

First, all specs seem fine, although the volume of the files varies a lot, from nearly the top of our range to the bottom. Not a particular problem, but I thought I'd mention it.

Then, just some notes about your intro. It would be perfectly fine to use a much shortened disclaimer, which we usually do for poetry.
I think having the long disclaimer at the beginning is good, but instead of using "Chapter Zero" which sounds awkward, I usually just use "Preface" instead. Since each section is one poem, which is fine, instead of saying "Chapter Number" we often just use, "Title of the Poem" by "Author," read for Librivox.org by . . . . And then end with, "End of poem; this recording is in the public domain."

There is nothing wrong with the way you are doing it, but I bring this up just as a suggestion. Since you have already recorded so many of these, you might not want to change, since it is important to be consisten, and that would be a lot to change.

Anyway, I've been able to listen to just three sections and have marked them all PL OK,
You have a great recording voice, and these are all quite well read, and a pleasure to listen to.

I'll get to the rest just as soon as I can.

I think after relistening to some of the recordings, I may want to re-record them. Is that acceptable or should they be left alone?

I did go ahead and re-record chapters 0 through 11 using your recommendations along with the fact that the mic levels were pretty messed up... Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it, and hope I didn't mess you up by doing that! :)

All is okay. Just give me time to go through them again.
I think we all have those times when we just say that a do-over is the easiest option.
