Nevi’im (JPSA) 07: Judges by The Jewish Publication Society of America (1888 - ).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/neviim-jpsa-07-judges-by-jewish-publication-society-of-america/
The Book of Judges (Shoftim) is the second of the former prophets within Nevi’im. The book of Judges covers the time between the conquest described in the Book of Joshua and the establishment of a kingdom in the Books of Samuel, during which Biblical judges served as temporary leaders.
Judges, tell of the struggle of the people to possess the land. When the people are unfaithful, G_d delivers them into the hands of their enemies; once the people repent, mercy is given, a Judge delivers them from oppression until the cycle repeats.
Judges concludes with two appendices (17:1–21:25), giving two stories set in the time of the Judges, but not discussing the Judges themselves. (Wikipedia and Linette Geisel)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/holyscripturesac028077mbp
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: wordperfect Linny will DPL

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I botched the titling in the database setup. I'd like to make sure this links to this group in the catalog: https://librivox.org/search?q=jpsa&search_form=advanced

Let me know if it's easier for me to do the template over. I don't mind.

Gideon is all yours! Thank you for joining in. I hope you are enjoying your summer break. :D

You won't be able to upload your section until we get an MC but I'm sure one will come along in the next few days.

This is set up.

The title looks OK to me. Typically, Bible books will sort by book order because "OT (##)" always sorts before "NT (##)". This one is a little different, because Torah sorts after Nevi'im. Does this concern you, that the different sections will sort out of order?

What we COULD do, if it's a problem, is change the title scheme to "JPSA (##) Torah/Nevi'im/Whatever: [Book Title]". That would take a bit of work, though, to change them in the catalog and at Archive. (The file names wouldn't be changed; only the project titles on each page.)

Tricia,
Thank you for taking this project on. I saw that Navi'im was before Torah but I think it's ok. At least all the Torah is together and all the Navi'im is together. That should be good enough. I don't want anyone to have to go back and re-title files. That would be too much work. Thank you for the option though. That's kind of you.

Navi'im should sort in order shouldn't it? 06 for Joshua, 07 for Judges, 08 for Kings, etc?

Yes, all within that category will sort in order.

But Nevi'im will list before Torah. And what's the next category? Ketuvim or something like that? That will list before the other two.

Basically, they will sort correctly in each category, but the overall list will not be in overall order.

I think we will stick with that. Renaming all the files in the Torah is too much of a bother. They will have some ordering and they will all be on the same page. That should be good enough. It wasn't something I had considered (always learning) but something folks should be able to figure out. Don't you think so?
