Left to Themselves by Edward Irenæus Stevenson (1858 - 1942).

This project is now in the catalogue. All audio files can be found on our catalogue page:
https://librivox.org/left-to-themselves-by-edward-irenaeus-stevenson/

Said to be the first-ever gay youth novel, this 1891 story follows the adventures of 12-year-old Gerald Saxton embarking on a trip from New York, to meet his father in Nova Scotia. He is chaperoned by 17-year-old Philip Touchtone. During the trip, their steamer sinks, they are shipwrecked, and marooned on an island. In addition, a shady antagonist is stalking the two. And while all this is happening, a friendship of mutual affection develops between the boys (nothing explicit). (Summary by Donald Cummings)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/57203
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

And there it is! :D

I'll leave this in the launchpad for a day or so to hopefully attract a prooflistener.

As usual, any questions or errors on my part, let me know!

Have fun!

Time to move. I had hoped we would acquire a DPL over the weekend.

When you have a file uploaded for listening, if a DPL hasn't found us yet, you can advertise in Listeners Wanted.

Just a quick FYI:

Chapter 1 has been recorded and I'm about 1/2 way through editing. RL and that I'm a slow editor :( has caused the delay. I expect this to be available in about a week.

Thanks for your patience,

Don
