The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting (1886 - 1947).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-voyages-of-doctor-dolittle-dramatic-reading-by-hugh-lofting/

Doctor John Dolittle is an animal doctor and famous naturalist whose success hinges on his ability to speak the languages of many different kinds of animals. This book, the second Dr. Dolittle adventure, is narrated by Tommy Stubbins, who meets the Doctor after finding an injured squirrel. Stubbins becomes interested in the Doctor's work and has the opportunity to travel with him and several animal companions to a mysterious floating island called Spidermonkey Island. ( Devorah Allen)
    1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from the color coded scripts linked in the MW!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1154
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Thanks guys. When we get picked up by an MC, I'll start filling in our MW. I'll read for Tommy Stubbins, which means, Larry, that I'll be the younger you!

For preview purposes, the Cast List is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1S_0LGXss2AKlKW4e3l_LuHmV1DlWIeOqhEg4lbc_Lnw/edit

Please don't claim until the MW is filled in. Also, please note that the "Sections" we are using correspond to roughly 3 chapters each, as the chapters are very short.

Thanks for providing that preview, Beth. I had these grand beautiful plans to have everything set up yesterday, but I'd forgotten two crucial things: 1) turns out it actually wasn't my day off, and I was supposed to go to work after all  , and 2) you have to wait for an MC!

Thanks, TJ, you're in!

And to everyone else, I believe that the MW is completely ready now, and I think we're ready for the Dramatic forum. Please let me know if you find an error in the MW or the google texts.

Fantastic! I’ve been excited about this project since you first mentioned it!

I haven’t read the entire book yet. Could you recommend a cute little part for my cute little daughter Jasmin?
