The Memoirs of Chateaubriand Volume III by François-René de Chateaubriand (1768 - 1848). Translated by Alexander Teixeira de Mattos (1865 - 1921)

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

https://librivox.org/the-memoirs-of-chateaubriand-volume-iii-by-francois-rene-de-chateaubriand/

The third volume of Teixeira de Mattos' translation of Chateaubriand's Memoirs from Beyond the Tomb covers the spectacular fall, exile, and death of Napoleon, and is replete with the author's trenchant views on the some of the most significant figures of his era, tinged with his signature melancholy. IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

The Chateaubriand dream-team together again!

Parts 1 and 2 of Book 5, which is the first book of Volume 3 (and the last chapter of Part II from Volume 2) confusingly, are now up.

Yes, it is a little confusing, and I don't know how the intro should be. It sounds like a repetition to me, at the beginning of section 1, but maybe it's from the confusion. Check, and if the intro is what you'd like it to be, ignore my note :)

Great reading! Interesting content!

thanks Rapunzelina, that was a repetition. I've fixed it and reuploaded and Books I and II of Part 3 which for some reason are combined in one chapter are also up now.

PL notes: I think it's a repeat at the very beginning of the recording "Book 6 of [...] --- Book 6 Part 1 of [...]". If not, ignore my note :)
Other than that, everything is flawless and the whole project is a gem of recording!
