Mount Royal Volume III by Mary Elizabeth Braddon (1835 - 1915).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

https://librivox.org/mount-royal-volume-iii-by-mary-elizabeth-braddon/

A classic Victorian sensation novel filled with romance, mystery, and murder with emphasis on romance. ( )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/mountroyalnovel03brad
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Yikes!

You’re quick! Having just finished Vol. 1, jumped right in hoping to nab the DPL position for Vol. 3! :?
Oh well, can’t have everything.

Great job, Celine! …panting for more!

Best, Kirsten

p.s. Something to think about: ME’s name is pronounced BRAD (like the nail or boy’s name) -ON (two d’s instead of one.) The correction, if you want to make it, wouldn’t take long: I'd say about 30 minutes with original files to re-do intros for volumes 1 and 2; 15 minutes for DPL check; and maybe 30 minutes for MC to re-load.

However, as I say, just something to consider.

Again - thanks for a great job and keep it up!

Hi Kirsten!

Thanks so much for your input. It never occurred to me to pronounce it that way but it makes sense. It's definitely and easy fix!

Before I change anything however I'd like to know if Jo and Helen are OK with the extra work. :)

Once again thanks. I always appreciate comments that will enhance my recordings.

Take care!

You are most gracious.

And thanks again to so much listening pleasure. I'd appreciate it if you could finish vol 2 today and vol 3 tomorrow.

Hi Celine. If you want to change Vol II before it gets cataloged, that's up to you. As for volume I, it has already been downloaded close to 700 times and may well be available on the various apps that use LV files. In view of that, it might not be worth the time and trouble to replace the existing files at archive, but I can do it if it really bothers you.

Thank you for replying so quickly Jo.

Frankly given the fact that Volume 1 has already been downloaded quite a bit I agree we should leave it as is.

And for the sake of continuity I suggest we also leave Volume 2 as is and I will continue with the same pronunciation for Volume 3.

However if/when I record another Braddon book I'll definitely use the correct pronunciation Kristen.

I hope that is agreeable to everyone???
