Cyrus the Great by Jacob Abbott (1803 - 1879).

The life and accomplishments of Cyrus II, also known as Cyrus the Great of Persia. His rule began the Achaemenid Empire which consolidated many nations under his rule to create the largest Empire the world had yet known. His rule spanning three decades was one of war, yet also of tolerance for other cultures and beliefs. Cyrus believed in universal human rights and respect and dignity for his subjects. 1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/files/30707/30707-h/30707-h.htm
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I am down for a while (knee surgery) and was going to make this a solo book. I still may depending on how much interest there is here. I would like to be the BC and take a good chunk of the chapters right off the bat.

All set up.
Do you need to advertise for a DPL?
Also, you may want to delete the info about id tags. Your choice, but they get overwritten at cataloguing; also they sometimes cause problems with uploads.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Patrick added as DPL.
It might be a good idea to fill out the MW before I move the project to RW 8-)

When I log in as the MC/BC, it will not give me permissions to edit the magic window. Can you help troubleshoot?

On second thought, I think I would like to make this a solo work. Feel free to move me to going solo.

First of all, have you BCd before? I thought you had, as you were listed in the appropriate catalog. So, was this recently or a long time ago?

Sometimes, the system logs you out, so you have to log back in.
If that doesn't work, you may need to go the 'forgot password' route.

I have moved this to GS.
As a soloist, you will be able to use the shortened intro for the 2nd and subsequent sections:

"Chapter [number] of Cyrus the Great byJacob Abbott. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Only if applicable, say:
"[Chapter title]"

Patrick, are you still on board with a solo project?

Yes I have been a BC. For some reason though I couldn't navigate the MW. I finished Alfred the Great last year about this time.

Thanks, I will get started.
