Travels in the Interior of Africa by Mungo Park (1771 - 1806).
Mungo Park, a Scottish surgeon and explorer, was sent out by the 'Association for Promoting the Discovery of the Interior of Africa' to discover the course of the River Niger. Having achieved a degree of fame from his first trip, carried out alone and on foot, he returned to Africa with a party of 40 Europeans, all of whom lost their lives in the adventure. 1. Text source (only read from this text!): Volume I http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5266 Volume II http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5305
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of Travels in the Interior of Africa by Mungo Park. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"

      "[Chapter title]"
    END of recording:

There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.

Lynda,
I'd be happy to MC this for you.

Edit - OK, you're set. You'll need to write a new summary before we catalog. The site you have quoted is copyrighted.

I see the MW is filled in, so I'll move this over to going solo. We can advertise for a DPL once you get a couple of sections read (unless someone volunteers before then based on the ~ in the title).

Have fun!

Okay Mary Ann!

I am going to ask Helen as I like her as my DPL - she is my DPL on my other solo and I cannot do both and the same time :)
