Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 4, Part 3: Nisida by Alexandre Dumas (1802 - 1870). Translated by George Burnham Ives (1856 - 1930)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/celebrated-crimes-vol-4-part-3-nisida-by-alexandre-dumas/

This story details the many crimes (attempted rape, assault, filicide, etc.) surrounding a significant historical confrontation between a fisherman from the island of Nisida, named Gabriel, and the Italian Prince of Brancaleone. Dumas notes that "the details of this case are recorded in the archives of the Criminal Court at Naples." (jvanstan)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2760
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

All set, John.
Not sure if we already discussed this, but there is no longer any need to leave 10 seconds at the end of sections over 30 minutes. The policy now is 'about 5 seconds' due to improvements in playback equipment (some old systems would cut of the end of recordings).
We'll wait here to see if Pattiemarie joins the party.

Thanks, Lynne!

Sorry for my delay - but I finally got to recording :) The files for the entire story are now uploaded and ready for PL. Did PattyMarie join the project?

Also, I created 6 sections because I wasn't sure of how many sections I really needed. Turns out I only needed 3

Can we delete the section placeholders for 4, 5, and 6?

Thanks so much! I'll now start a project for Volume 5, part 1 about Antoine Derues/Desrues... there's apparently some debate over the first "s" in his last name :/

No problem deleting the unwanted sections (already done 8-) )
No, I never heard back from Pattiemarie... I'll advertise for a proof listener as you've finished recording all the sections. If you drop her a PM and she still wants to do it, tell her to claim in the usual way --- otherwise I'm sure someone else will be only too happy.

I'm happy to MC the next section. Your choice how to deal with the name issue (maybe add the discrepancy in the blurb?)

Hope all is going well with the baby.

Thanks Lynne and Pattymarie!

Baby Levi is doing great - eating well, sleeping well (enough), and he's perfected a pitch that can be heard through any barrier ;)

Best,

Thanks much, Pattymarie!

I've uploaded the revised section 1 per your PM comments :) The only edit I didn't do was the british pronunciation of "inexorable".

Onto Derues :D
Best,
John
