Commentary on the Gospel of John, Book 2, by Cyril of Alexandria (c. 376 - 444). Translated by Rev. Philip Edward Pusey ( - 1880)

This project is complete! All audio files are available on our catalog page:
https://librivox.org/commentary-on-the-gospel-of-john-book-2-by-cyril-of-alexandria/

Book 2 of Commentary on St John's Gospel covers John 1:29 - 5:34.
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.tertullian.org/fathers/cyril_on_john_02_book2.htm
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'll be happy to MC this, Monaxi -- unless Tricia was planning to do it?

edited: I've got you all set up! If Tricia was going to MC this one, we can just change the MC in the database. No problem. :)

Thank you Laurie Ann. Tricia and I didn't have any plans made re this, so I'll look forward to working with you.

I've just broken up the text into manageable sections, and I'm going to plan on 17.

Great! Do you know how to add sections to the Section Compiler? If not, I can either tell you how or do it for you (whichever you prefer).

Amen. The verse that most struck me in the first part of Isaiah (chapters 1 - 35) as I've re-read it in the past few days is 26:8b "your name and renown are the desire of our hearts."

Hello Pattymarie! Thank you for the verse. It both describes and explains the joy I experience doing these recordings.

Here is the next section for you: https://librivox.org/uploads/chocoholic/commentaryonjohnbook2_01_cyrilofalexandria_128kb.mp3 36:46

At one point I reversed the words "black and white" for "white and black" but I decided to leave it alone.

Thank you!
