This project is complete. All associated files can be found on the catalog page: http://librivox.org/bible-reina-valera-antigua-19-salmos-by-reina-valera/

(Summary by Claudia R Barrett)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
Por favor, pida maximo de 2 secciones a la vez. Una vez que haya subido una seccion, puede pedir otra cuantas veces lo desee, pero teniendo un maximo de dos secciones sin subir.

    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Salmos+1&version=RVA
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

(To find out more about ID3 tags, go to our wiki: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/What_is_ID3)
Add the following tags to your .mp3 file (how you do this depends on which software you use – if you are unsure about ID3 tags, send me a message). Please mind upper and lower case!
      Artist: Reina Valera
      Title: ## - [Section title]
Album: Bible (Reina Valera Antigua) 19: Salmos

Please ignore tags for Genre and Track Number - these will be filled in automatically at the cataloguing stage.
Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
      • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader: https://librivox.org/login/uploader
        Image
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
      • You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: gypsygirl
      • When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.
      • If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.

I'm afraid you can't use Bible Gateway as a text source. According to this: https://www.biblegateway.com/legal/terms/ they won't let you use their site. I found a Spanish Bible on Project Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/6528. Does this look right? Thanks!

Thanks Adele! I went by the "in Public Domain" at the bottom of every Psalm, and thought it was OK to use. I always prefer Gutenberg Project, however they do not have easy access to each book of the Bible, you need to scroll down until you get to wherever you want to read

I think there's a way you can link to individual pages. I'll try to find out how. Can I have 1, 100, 117, and to counterbalance that, 119? We should read the part in brackets, right?

May I take Psalm 23? I think I know how to pronounce all the words. ;)

We're going to have to find a different text source. This one says:
This is a COPYRIGHTED Project Gutenberg eBook
and
Esta Biblia puede ser usado libremente siempre y cuando su contenido no sea alterado.

(This Bible may be used freely provided that the contents are not altered).
I'll see what I can find.

Okay, so I found this one on archive: https://archive.org/details/ReinaValera1909
I don't know if it will work. You have to download it, but it seems to have the whole Bible. Most others only have the New Testament.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm! It's so encouraging to see that you are already thinking what you would like to record

Kangaroo previously asked for Psalm 23 and 150, sorry! The rest of the Psalms is going to be in sections of about 800 words each. I'm sure we can work it out so each has something they enjoy reading. I personally feel renewed every time I read the Psalms :D, no matter which one.

I was planning to make it easier for you by uploading each section to Google Docs as suggested I believe by Gesine? in "how to BC". It will take me more time, but before doing it I want to make sure that the source in Gutenberg is OK.
It was my understanding that everything in Gutenberg is Public Domain? The only change we will do is add the disclaimer and reader's name - they would have credit by the link, right?

Please don't make 23 and 150 stand-alone Psalms while the others are in bunches. I can take 23 and 150 in whatever bunches they come in. Do you want me to help divide the Psalms and co-bc?

And no, not everything on Gutenberg is in the public domain, and it is not usable. Some are copyrighted. Thanks,

ETA - From a simple forum search I find that BibleGateway has been accepted as a PD source before.

Thanks for your research, Kangaroo!

I have already divided the Psalms and done the word count. I will put them in the MW as soon as Gypsygirl gets it ready. Can you help me co-bc on Thursdays? that's one of my busiest days.

Sure I'll be your Thursday CO-bc. That's my least busiest day. Tuesday and Wednesday are my busy days. :)

ETA - You may want to put - gypsy girl in the project title, or maybe write that Gypsygirl will be MC. Otherwise another MC might claim it.

Here is the Spanish disclaimer, it might need a bit of editing:

Capítulo [número] de [Título del libro]. Esta es una grabación de LibriVox. Todas las grabaciones de LibriVox están en el dominio público. Para más información, o para ser voluntario, por favor visite librivox punto org."[/i]
Si desea, diga: "Grabado por [su nombre]"
Diga: "Título por Autor. [Traducido por Traductor]. [Capítulo]

Okay, I'm being the bad cop here  I know you are all excited about this and you want to help, but...

1) Can you kids all back off from this project until it is finally launched?
Joyfull/Claudia is the BC, this is HER project and any kinks in the setup should be ironed out with an MC and not with prospective readers. It is really tiring to wade through pages of random posts to find the important ones.

And while I'm ranting,
2) Can you all stop claiming before the MW is up? Makes things much easier for the BC involved, especially if there are combined sections. Goodness, can't you wait another day or two?

Joyfull/Claudia:

I'm sure gypsygirl will come soon as she has promised to MC this project. But for now, my 2 ct:

1) I think the bible gateway link is okay if you make sure that people read from the RVA - Antigua version! (The site places a limit on how much text you can use, but you can't re-copyright a pd text.) You could place links to the (start of the) text in question into the "notes" field of the magic window once it is up.
2) The text appears easy to read, and you can click forward to the next psalm, so personally, I would not make any google docs. I mean, if you have time for that, fine, but... You should note the beginning/end of each section clearly in the MW if you don't.
3) You should use the Spanish intro/outro for this one. Actually, if you go to the template generator, on the top right there is a window where you can change the language for the whole template. You don't need to do this now, but it's good to know for future projects.
4) You really don't need a co-BC for a single day of the week! Firstly because I don't think this project will go that fast and secondly because people really can wait for a response for a day or two. (Teaching the kids up there a bit of patience would be no bad thing... )
5) Added: A little personal pet-peeve: We will link to the wikipedia entry of the book anyway (which should be the spanish one). Wouldn't you like to write your own summary for the project, in Spanish?
Cheers, Ava.
