The Blue Flower by Henry Van Dyke (1852 - 1933) .

This project is complete and can be found in our catalog at http://librivox.org/the-blue-flower-by-henry-van-dyke/
"Sometimes short stories are brought together like parcels in a basket. Sometimes they grow together like blossoms on a bush. Then, of course, they really belong to one another, because they have the same life in them. ...There is such a thought in this book. It is the idea of the search for inward happiness, which all men who are really alive are following, along what various paths, and with what different fortunes! Glimpses of this idea, traces of this search, I thought that I could see in certain tales that were in my mind,—tales of times old and new, of lands near and far away. So I tried to tell them, as best as I could, hoping that other men, being also seekers, might find some meaning in them" (Summary by from the preface)
  1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you'd like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  3. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen.
Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
  4. Where do I find the text?
Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1603
  5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)!
If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Make sure you add this to the beginning and end of your recording:
    Start of recording (Intro)
    • "Chapter [number] of The Blue Flower. - This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"

    Title: ## - [Section title]
    Artist: Henry Van Dyke
    Album: The Blue Flower

Please ignore tags for Genre and Track Number - these will be filled in automatically at the cataloguing stage.

Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
    • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader:

(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
    • You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: phi - philchenevert
    • When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.
    • If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.

Hello! Another great story collection :D Could I sign up for 7 and 8, The Other Wise Man, please?
It's the end of term, so I am back! Thank you for being patient with me, and please PM if I don't seem to have caught an update that I should have seen.

I'm looking for a project to DPL to gain some experience around here, and since I'll want to listen to this one ANYWAY... Would it be OK for me to DPL for this? I HAVE read the Listener's and Editors FAQ, as well as everything I could find on proof listening... :)

I've had a death in the family and won't be around Librivox much for the next while. I'll be back ... when I'm back. I appreciate your patience in the meanwhile. :)

Certainly ElleyKat, I would be happy to have you as DPL. (Have you watched the classic video Proof Listening 101) ?? And there is 102 and 103 for the advanced PLer...

Please ask for clarification of anything at all. I encourage DPLers in my projects to just use their ears and not rely on the Checker or MP3Gain. Nothing wrong with using them, but our ears are the best indication of whether a track is understandable and loud enough.

Anyway, welcome to this wonderful project. Van Dyke is a great writer. Image

EDIT: I will need to send you a password to get into the MW. Once y ou watch the video you will understand. EDIT: I see that y ou already have a password so no problem there!.

I have watched the video now. :) Will watch 2 and 3 coming up here.

Though this video made me itch to proofREAD and correct some errors on the slides... ;) That should be a good sign for my proofLISTENING potential... Maybe? :) Haha!

Can you still please send the password? I know I'm having problems with getting into the MW for my solo project... My MC said the password keeps changing itself? :? Hopefully that's not an issue any longer...

Thanks!!

HA! Yes, I make a lot of mistakes. I'm just not a detail kind of guy. (a euphimism for being lazy some say). And by the way, I'm always looking to improve those things and welcome any feedback. Also suggestions of other videos for confusing stuff.

I will send the password that was given to you recently. It is doesn't work we will try another. :D
