My Comforter by anonymous ( - ) .

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/my-comforter-by-anonymous/

Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!

This week's poem can be found here.

Please be sure that your recording software is set to the following technical specifications:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording: http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6427#6430
If this is your first recording, you'll also find this useful: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Newbie_Guide_to_Recording

Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
(Please leave no more than 0.5-1 second of silence at the beginning of your recording!)
My Comforter by anonymous , read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
The world had all gone wrong that day
And tired and in despair,
Discouraged with the ways of life,
I sank into my chair.

A soft caress fell on my cheek,
My hands were thrust apart.
And two big sympathizing eyes
Gazed down into my heart.

I had a friend; what cared I now
For fifty worlds? I knew
One heart was anxious when I grieved—
My dog's heart, loyal, true.

"God bless him," breathed I soft and low,
And hugged him close and tight.
One lingering lick upon my ear
And we were happy—quite.
At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.

* To insure accuracy you may wish to copy/paste the following filename and ID3 tag info.

Here is my version of this tribute to our canine companions:

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/dl/mycomforter_anon_llw.mp3
Duration: 1:11

This reminds me of the occurrence of a very bitter family tragedy years ago. When I was alone the next day, for one of the very few times ever, I broke into loud sobs of grief. Our beautiful and intelligent boxer, Vikki, came to me and stared at me with her big brown eyes, whining softly. I am sure that she understood my sadness and shared it with me.

David, I think it was the same difficulty I've had before - rogue blanks in the filename. I've re-uploaded it, which I think will fix it.

There are dogs, and there are dog-myths:

Section: My Comforter - Read by CAM
URL: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/dl/mycomforter_anon_cam.mp3
Length: 01:11

Glad to imagine {thanks, David; thanks, Len} there's probably more truth in some than I can hope to know.

Got it this time Chessie :D

Thanks Jannie and Cynthia

Thank you Ernst, there is still the artifact problem, probably due to aggressive Noise Reduction.

See you all on Friday when we change over to out new servers.

I was thinking of extending the weekly, thanks Cat. :D

* You have a bit of DC offset in your recordings this week, you may want to use Normalize to correct this in future.
