The Favor of Kings by Mary Hastings Bradley (1882 - 1976) .

Volunteers outside the USA: Mary Hastings Bradley died in 1976. The author's work is still protected by copyright in places, like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1955) or Canada (author's death plus 50 years).

Quote:
"Never have bright romance and black scandal been more attached to the name of lovely woman," writes a quaint and susceptible chronicler, " than to that of fair Anne Boleyn." Certainly no girl ever flashed so meteor-like above the satellites of an English court, and no woman ever went to her doom under more awful accusations. Since fiction could not be half so amazing as the facts of Anne Boleyn's story, I have kept this novel of her fortunes true to those facts, and have gone, for their knowledge, not only to the histories written of this period, but in many cases to the sources of those histories. My endeavor has been to reveal the actual characters and the actual situations, and to use as much of the real incident and dialogue as possible." (Summary by The author (see foreword))

Hi Verity,

Got you all set up. You did not list the number of sections needed so I gave you enough to cover the forward and the 34 chapters; if you need more or less, we can adjust it. Also note that I removed the "hastings" part of the file name as there was a space in there and that causes us problems with the file links.

I would love to PL this one, if you have no one else in mind!

Wow, thank you both for responding so quickly and appologies, I thought I had told it how many sections!

Icequeen, that sounds good to me - I don't have anybody else in mind :)

Hi Verity,

Section 00 is PL OK except it could use a little amplification. I ran the recording through mp3Gain and it said that it was at 86.6 dB, when it should be around 89 dB. I let it up to you if you want to amplify it just a little bit, not too much. I can't wait to listen to the rest of this book, I love this time period!

Have amplified it a bit, and sounds a lot clearer I think :) If you could add the green colour tag when it's ok, just makes life a lot easier if i'm looking quickly in the window for any edits I need to do.

Chapter 1 is now up and ready - given the time it's taken me to edit, I recon I'll probably get 1 or 2 chapters done each week if I'm lucky.

Hi, sorry, personal life has been stupidly busy this month. I managed to record then delete chapter two, but have now rerecorded it and am editing it ready for you to proof listen. Sorry I didn't post to say before.

So you know where I am, I'm putting in the notes column where i am in the recording/editing of each file which I hope is alright. Given it's the editing that takes the time, I may start recording the other chapters then doing the editing in bulk afterwards.

Oh, good, I'm glad that you are still around. I know how crazy life can get, because I just stopped being busy myself! :D

Aye, I'm finding this a little harder than I expected just because of the amount of editing required, but hey, I'm enjoying the book so even if I'm slow reading it, I will get there eventually!

First 15 minutes of chapter 2 have been edited - will hopefully complete the editing on this chapter over the weekend.
