Windsor Castle, Book 1 by William H. Ainsworth (1805 - 1882) .

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/windsor-castle-book-1-by-william-harrison-ainsworth/
Book 1 - Ann Boleyn. The focus of the novels is on the events surrounding Henry VIII's replacing Catherine of Aragon with Anne Boleyn as his wife. During Henry's pursuit of Boleyn, the novel describes other couples, including the Earl of Surrey and Lady Elizabeth Fitzgerald, a match Henry does not support. However, some of the individuals oppose Henry and his desires for Boleyn, including Thomas Wyat who wants her for himself and Cardinal Wolsey, who uses his own daughter, Mabel Lyndwood, to lure Henry away from Boleyn. [...] Intertwined with the Court is the story of Herne the Hunter, a spirit of Windsor Forest. He is an evil force that seeks to take the souls of various individuals, and Henry tries to stop him, but is never able to do so. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia)
  1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you'd like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  3. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim (or by the target completion date, whatever is sooner). Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. The target completion date for this project is 2012-Jun-30 .
  4. Where do I find the text?
    Source text: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2866
Please read from the text links in the Magic Window.
  5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)!
If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: Standard

Hi John,

I'm excited about this project. The myth of Herne has been an interest of mine. May I claim Chapters 1, 5, and 10?

Thanks,
-Amy

Awesome! Those sections are all yours, Amy. I'm also interested in the myth of Herne, so I look forward to listening to this book when we're done. :)

Hi again,

I have listened to Chapter 10 and it is PL OK.
Seeing that this project does not have a DPL, would I be able to be a DPL for it? This would be my first time though.

I accidentally clicked on the "upload file" button twice so there will be two files, but the original one has been renamed.

Welcome to LibriVox, DannyHauger! I'll be glad to assign chapters two and three to you. But, I'd strongly recommend that you record your 1-minute test first just in case there are any technical issues to work out. It would be a shame to record a whole section and then find out we can't use it due to technical issues.

Here's the link with instructions for submitting your 1-minute test: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test

Thanks!
