Book 5 of The Ramayan of Valmiki (300 BC - ) . Translated by Ralph T.H. Griffith (1826 - 1906).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/the-ramayan-book-5-by-valmiki/
The Ramayan is an ancient Sanskrit epic. It is attributed to the Hindu sage Valmiki and forms an important part of the Hindu canon (smṛti). The Ramayana is one of the two great epics of India, the other being Mahabharata. It is the story of Rama, who embarks on an epic journey followed by the fight with Ravana, the demon king who abducted Rama's wife, Sita. The epic depicts the duties of relationships, portraying ideal characters like the ideal servant, the ideal brother, the ideal wife and the ideal king. Book 5 of Rmayan, also known as Sundara Kanda is the heart of Valmiki's Ramayana and consists of a detailed, vivid account of Hanuman's adventures as he moves to Lanka in search of Sita. (Summary by om123)
  • Target completion date: 2013-Oct-31
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/24869
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I have categorized the book as ancient text. Earlier it was categorized as Epic. Not sure, what to keep.
Also, in the last books the artist name was the translator's name in the ID3 tags, here Valmiki has come as the artist. I have changed to Ralph T.H. Griffith, to keep the formats same.

Hello again, om123--

Perhaps this is a little premature since you don't have an MC yet, but I would enjoy being your DPL for this project if you have not already arranged for one and would be willing to have me do so--? :)
Kind regards,
Lucretia

Annise,

I am unable to login in the bc window. When I give my user name and password, the page simply refreshes. Has the passwords been renewed?

meanwhile,

The problem persists for me. When I try to login to 'bc admin', my login is not accepted.

I've re entered your name - I can't see any reason why it will not work. Could you try again and see what message you get ? You didn't have any problems with volume 4 did you ? (I have to ask - you are trying your BC password aren't you ? Not your logon one ? )

It's working :D . As usual I made some idiotic mistake  . Actually, I was giving the earlier password, which was changed after the hacking happened. Sorry to bother you all unnecessarily. Thank you Annise.

This time, I have noticed that some of the cantos are very short, and some have been totally omitted. So, I am reading enough numbers to make make one section 15-20 minutes long. So, I shall be adding the section title as I progress. Is it okay?
