Short Answers to Common Objections Against Religion, by Louis Gaston de Segur (1820 - 1881)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/short-answers-to-common-objections-by-louis-gaston-de-segur/
A neat little book of answers to a number of objections and arguments frequently urged by the opponents of the Catholic Church. It first treats a few of the objections urged against all religion and Christianity in general by freethinkers; and then takes up those of Protestants against the Church; closing with some excuses pleaded by Catholics to reconcile the opposition existing between their belief and their practice. Mgr de Segur is direct brief and persuasive with a tendency to infuse occasionally a little pungency into the retorts to the adversary. (Summary adapted from The Catholic World, 1909)

I would be pleased to take sections 0 through 2. I'll take on more if needed after those are finished.

All yours! Thank you!

Just a note: for Section 0, don't say "Section 0" in the intro and outro. Just say Preface in its place. :-)

Please let me know what name you would like to use for your catalog page. It can be your real name, forum name or a pseudonym ~ whatever you prefer!

Thanks, and have fun!

28 But what have you to say about the massacre of St. Bartholomew? Link to text (2-1/2 pages) Open

51 One ought not to be a bigot Link to text (2 pages) Open

53 I am not worthy to approach the sacraments: we ought not to abuse holy things. Link to text (1 page) Open
