The Flying U's Last Stand, by B. M. Bower (1871 - 1940)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-flying-us-last-stand-by-b-m-bower/
Settlers are lured to Montana by a land boom syndicate in a scheme that encroaches on the Flying U Ranch. Members of the Flying U attempt to thwart the land-grab, as its very existence is threatened. So begins a dramatically engrossing novel involving an array of fascinating characters, some innocent, others decidedly not. A spunky child goes missing, a prairie fire is set, and a romance begins. B. M. Bower wrote 57 acclaimed works based on the American Old West, with some of her most popular books centering on the Flying U Ranch. She also scripted several Western movies. (Summary by Lee Smalley)

Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Here's Ch. 2.

Ann, I think we’ve struck gold. As I've noted before, this lady could write! Did you happen to see the raves this book got on “Goodreads”?

Chapter 5.

Obviously the characters got these silly names somehow in the earlier books. Other than that, IMO it's looking to be an interesting story.
