We Were There at the Normandy Invasion, by Clayton Knight (1891 - 1969)

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/we-were-there-at-the-normandy-invasion-by-clayton-knight/

Volunteers outside the USA: Clayton Knight died in 1969. This person's work may still be protected by copyright in countries where copyright duration is determined by the author's death date. In Europe this is 70 years; in Canada it is 50 years; and in Australia it is 70 years for authors who died after 1955.
D-Day: 6 June 1944. The date of the invasion of the Normandy Coast of France by the Allies. This novel gives a different look at that invasion than most of us have ever seen. It tells of a young French boy, André Gagnon, and his exciting adventures as he helps the Maquis (the French Underground fighting the Germans), a shot down British airman, and the American soldiers in their successful attempt to liberate France from German occupation. An entertaining and informative family friendly tale.

Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Magic Window is in place, and you both should have access.

See if you can shorten the filename a bit. No problem if not. :)

Sometimes I wonder at myself. I recorded Chapter 2 yesterday, and I am pretty sure I uploaded it, but forgot to mention it here and post in in the MW. So I had to re-upload it, but it is finally there.

Here are the next three:

I am not ashamed to say that at the end of Chapter 4 and also at the end of 5 I got a little emotional and had to stop for a minute to gather my self.

Also, I know in 5 there are a few misses that I didn't correct, but I hope you will feel that they didn't really change the meaning of the sentence or story.

Sounds like fun. We had motorhomes for 20 years. Lost the last one due to fire in October of 2019 in the middle of a 48 State, 8 Province trip, about 30 miles east of Cleveland on I-90. No one hurt. (Really not our fault at all.) Long, long story, but we certainly enjoyed them while we had them. We were not in the least thinking of getting rid of it, but we decided not to replace it, and are traveling in other ways :D . So have fun, and we will talk when you get back.
