The Thirty-Nine Steps, by John Buchan (1875 - 1940)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-thirty-nine-steps-version-3-by-john-buchan/
The Thirty-Nine Steps is an adventure spy novel by John Buchan written in 1914. Told from the first-person point of view, it relates the adventure of "ordinary fellow" Richard Hannay, who is thrust into a plot involving the theft of crucial military intelligence by German anarchists. (Summary by Cliff Stone)
Source text (please read only from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/558

Target completion date: 2021-06-30

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I just recently, as in a few months ago, was DPL for another solo for this book, so if you go ahead with a third version, I'll let someone else have the privilege.

OK, your MW is ready for you! We will wait here a day or two to see if we can pick up a DPL. As far as this being version 3, the only reason Anne let you know is because some readers prefer to read something new to LV. But we welcome multiple versions, it gives the listeners more choices! So, you don't really need to add a 3 to the file name, just as long as you upload to my folder.

Well not fully it is much better for it to be catalogued as version 3 than to have to change the title after cataloguing although sometimes it is better to let readers know in case they find out later and abandon the project :D

That is very true, and I have found that it depends on who I talk to about this, because opinions vary on this point. I have found that both ways do work, but if someone is not comfortable with one way, the other way works well. I'm easy! :D

OK, just to satisfy my paranoia, how about making your file names thirtyninestepsver3_##_buchan_128kb ? (Yes, I am paranoid, I don't want to break the internet! :D )
