White Cockades: An Incident of the "Forty-Five", by Edward Prime-Stevenson (1858 - 1942)

This project can be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/white-cockades-an-incident-of-the-forty-five-by-edward-prime-stevenson/
In the aftermath of the 1745 Jacobite uprising, the young Andrew Boyd meets a fugitive from the redcoats, a man whom Andrew soon grows to admire. Andrew and his father take the man in, but then the redcoats arrive to search the house...

Besides being a historical adventure this reads, to a modern reader, as a sweet gay romance, though it's not explicit. Indeed the author was gay himself and recommended his own book as an example of homoerotic fiction in The Intersexes, his 700-page defense of homosexuality under another pen name. (Summary by Elin)

Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I already have a DPL.

To the eventual MC: could we maybe skip the subtitle and go with the shorter filename whitecockades_##_primestevenson_128kb.mp3 ?

The DPL is Garonne, who has been DPL for me once before on a solo book project.

EDIT: I can find no entry for the name 'Garonne' in our database. What forum name did they use to DPL your other project?

From what I can see, Garonne was never entered as DPL officially on your last solo so she has no record of doing that. I will try to enter her now although I am puzzled why she does not show up in our database at all. :hmm: Oh well this will work out.

Thanks!

Just as an update if you're wondering why nothing is happening, Garonne listened to my first chapter and thought it might be a bit fast, so I'm getting second opinions from a couple of other people before I proceed. Don't worry, we know each other and I am happy to get feedback like that from her. : )

Just a reminder that if you revise a file that has already been uploaded, you must use the exact same file name so that it replaces the older one it in our server. Changing the file name a bit will make another file.
