The Final Campaign: Marines in the Victory on Okinawa by Joseph H. Alexander (1938 - 2014).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-final-campaign-marines-in-the-victory-on-okinawa-by-joseph-h-alexander/

“The three-month-long battle of Okinawa covered a 700-mile arc from
Formosa to Kyushu and involved a million combatants--Americans,
Japanese, British, and native Okinawans. With a magnitude that rivaled
the Normandy invasion the previous June, the battle of Okinawa was the
biggest and costliest single operation of the Pacific War. For each of
its 82 days of combat, the battle would claim an average of 3,000 lives
from the antagonists and the unfortunate non-combatants.” (Joseph H. Alexander)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I will be happy to DPL this if you would like. I will not likely be able to differentiate correct pronunciations from what I would haplessly create. I will leave that to your knowledge.

Awesome! That would be great. Thanks. I’m finishing up another project...probably a couple more weeks worth of work. I don’t anticipate starting to record this until mid-Feb.

I can set this up for when you're ready.

Edit: all set and Kevin added as DPL. Let me know if you need anything else.

I would recommend shortening the file name.

Great, thanks! I’ll change the file name. Also, I’m still tinkering with chapter/section word counts. I may not need all the chapter/sections I have budgeted for.

Not a problem. Extras can easily be deleted.

I don't know why this is so, but your sections are not registering on my To PL List. I have subscribed to the project, though, so I should now be able to keep up. My apologies for the delay in getting to these.

PL OK!

Nice to hear General Geiger profiled. My father and the General's son were friends. (They served together in Viet Nam.)
