The mysterious Mr. Garland by Wyndham Martyn (1875 - 1963).
Will follow later ( )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): no online text available that I could find (will read from first edition hard-copy - will upload scan of first page)
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

The third book in the 'Anthony Trent' series - published in 1923, so should be OK to record this year!
I only just realised the fact that 1923 has become OK to record now for Librivox, and now I can't wait to continue the series :) - to be honest I've only just ordered a first edition hard-copy, since I couldn't find an online text - will have to wait to start recording until I get it. Apologies, but I couldn't wait to start up a thread here already, because I'm eager to get recording as soon as it arrives!
(So for any potential proof-listeners reading this: you'll have to have a bit of patience for a week or 2.)

(The author died in 1963, but this work falls under the Rule of the Shorter Term, since it was first published in the USA and is in the public domain there now, and the Netherlands recognises the Rule of Shorter Term).
